Honest Feedback is Good Feedback

•

Last week, I submitted the most recent draft of my screenplay, Back Door Man, to Script Peer. Script Peer is a script sharing web site that allows writers to receive anonymous feedback from people wanting to help improve screenwriting. This is THE most important part – people who use the site are there to help. I’ve written a couple of reviews and have received a couple.

The comments about Back Door Man were the most insightful and detailed that I could have expected. They weren’t mean – they were direct, they didn’t blow smoke – they praised the good, they weren’t wandering – they were on-point and intended to strengthen the work. I will immediately implement some of the suggestions, I’ll think about some of them, and a few I will pass on.

I hope to stay in contact with the reader, though they are still anonymous. Regardless, I will certainly carve some time out of my creative day to help another writer. I’ll find an interesting work, read it carefully, and try to respond with the same level of professionalism and compassion the my recent reader has provided.

If you’re interested in receiving potentially wonderful advice on your screenwriting, I encourage you to join Screen Peer and pay it forward.
